4g of blush in a 20g sifter pot and 1g in a 5g sifter jar of eyeshadow, should last about 6 months when used correctly with a natural fibre brush

Makeup artists and skincare professionals rave about mineral cosmetics becauase you can get a fantastic effect whist caring for your skin!. Made from natural crushed minerals and containing no harsh chemicals, dyes or fillers, mineral makeup is not only gentle on the skin but also contains zinc oxides which have healing properties. Titanium dioxide also natural sunscreen properties even though we can not guarentee the SPF.

You can buy various setting powders and finishing viels for mineral foundation but these are not needed with a good mineral foundation which should cost you about £8-£20. Cheaper mineral foundations will need the extra steps to achieve the same effect.

Make sure you have somewhere to apply the foundation as it has a habit of going everywhere. Is this just me being a little wild with the brush? And possibly impatient? You will only need to dip your brush in once and swirl the powder on your face, which means 8g of powder foundation should last 6 months. Mine does and I wear it everyday.

Even if you are very pale, do not assume the very pale powders with ultramarine blue will be for you, as I am as white as a sheet and can only use this colour around my eyes as I look like a ghost otherwise. Pick a pale colour with either pink or yellow undertones, Geishaface ‘Me’ or ‘Leki’ are best if you need a comparison of colours. These colours have a sheer shimmer effect but please bear in mind that most mineral foundations are a matt finish.

You don’t need to go out and buy an expensive natural brush, I find I like my synthetic brush better and don’t like the thought of brushing my face with animal hair. Ewww. So don’t think you have to buy an entire kit!

Mineral foundation is also great as a loose powder for a maximum coverage. When I am out on the town ( and made up to the nines, all goth like) I use my normal foundation then my mineral powder so my makeup is going nowhere! It does mean I can acheive a doll like appearence. In the day I just wear mineral foundation.

Great for problem skin! In have used this over dry skin and an amoxycillin allergy rash which itched like hell. No adverse effects! Even though I should have probably just stuck with the camomile, but I needed to go to work and look alive.

A pot of mineral foundation should be in every girls makeup bag, but beware cheap shabby blends and try a sample before you buy

Simply use the ratio of 1/5 w/w (example 1g of powder in 5 g of lotion/cream) and mix well using a spatula. So with say the ‘me’ colour shimmer powder foundation you get the same look and shimmer but with a cream foundation! Try to just use a normal creme, and avoid anti-aging creams. The powder is pretty inert, but got knows what these guys put in these creams! A nice basic non scented lotion or creme for a thicker foundation. Increase the ratio of powder to base to get a more intense coverage. This should work with all mineral foundations that are made and blended well, and should last 12 months depending on the lotion/creme used!

Directions: Simply melt lip balm in a double boiler or microwave on low heat, add flavor oils, colors and scents. Stir and pour into your containers. Allow to cool before moving. Always use eye protection and avoid skin contact when hot.

First grate the cocoa butter and beeswax ( if not in pellets) and add your Olive Oil in a microwaveable container. On low heat melt the ingredients together. It might take a while so don’t worry! Once in a liquid state, add a 3 drops of Peppermint Oil and the contents of the Vitamin E capsule ( to act as a preservative, not needed but you will have to keep your balm in the fridge!). Mix well at all stages. Pour into lip gloss pots or a container to melt down and dispense again. Leave out until cool, or place in your fridge.

Nice and simple! - Remember you can not put beeswax in your dishwasher or down the sink! Best to be practical with your waste and heat the waste again, wash it into a disposable container, and place it in the bin!

Great additions to lip balm are ‘Wintergreen Oil’ for lip plumping (use sparingly guys this stuff stings), sweet orange oil for a zesty fragrance. Do not use perfume oils or excessive essential oils! Make sure your ingredients are cosmetic or food grade guys! And no testing it on your cat!
